About Burlingame Aquatic Club:
The Burlingame Aquatic Club (http://www.burlingameaquatics.com), located in Burlingame, is a
non-profit, public benefit organization that provides high quality aquatic programs for people of
all ages. We operate out of the Burlingame Aquatic Center on the campus of Burlingame HS,
and we work in conjunction with the City of Burlingame and its Parks & Recreation Department.
Job Overview:
Under the supervision of the Executive Director (ED), the Lead Coach (LC) is responsible for
developing, organizing, and implementing a high quality USA Water Polo competitive program
for all 14u boys and girls, including the 14u, 12u, and 10u age groups. Our goal is for our water
polo teams to be competitive and successful both locally and nationally. The LC is the primary
point of contact for both current and prospective members, and must ensure that a
professional level program is offered at all times.
Duties Include:
Develop and implement the training program for all athletes ages 14 and under; discuss
and coordinate such development with the Lead Coaches of the HS age programs to
ensure continuity/consistency in teaching methods
Work with the ED and other BAC staff members to coordinate practice schedules
Set the competition schedule for all 14u athletes and ensure that entry fees are within
budget
Be willing to take qualified groups on competitive travel trips
Serve as the primary on-deck coach for all 14u athletes
Hire and supervise an assistant coach to support the program
Coordinate with the assistant coach to ensure that all practices and competitions have
proper coaching coverage
Work to establish contacts with local high school coaches as part of an effort to recruit
local talent
Serve as the primary point of contact for both current and prospective members in the
program, managing both emails and phone calls as necessary
Be available to meet with any program parent or athlete as requested
Support all program athletes with the goal of playing collegiate water polo
Communicate regularly with the team registrar to ensure proper registration of all
program participants
Support any fundraising campaigns relevant to the water polo program
Be responsible for the safety of all program participants both in the pool, on the pool
deck, and in the surrounding locker rooms
Play an active role in continuing to identify ways to improve safety standards
