USA Water Polo along with the U.S. Center for SafeSport and U.S. Olympic Committee offer education and training regarding how to respond to misconduct in sport and the measures we can all take to protect all participants. Learning about the types of misconduct is an important step to recognize reduce and respond effectively to inappropriate and potential harmful behavior.
USA Water Polo coaches referees club administrators staff and other participating 18+ adult members who have regular contact with minors are required to fulfill the US Center for SafeSport's Education & Training Policy and possess the information necessary to more effectively prevent and minimize the opportunities for child physical and sexual abuse and other types of misconduct including respond to concerns.
The SafeSport Core Training and Refresher courses are offered through the US Center for SafeSport. All participating adults must complete the SafeSport Trained Core Education Course prior to contact with minors. Adult participants who have regular contact with minors must also complete the SafeSport training. Each training requirement is valid for one year at which time members may take the SafeSport Refresher course in order to remain in compliance.
The USA Water Polo National Office will receive record of course completion directly from the Training Site and will record it within your member account. We recommend you keep a copy of your SafeSport Trained certificate on file in the instance the results are not sent to our system. Failure to complete the training will result in a disqualification from participating in USA Water Polo activity.
As agreed to during Membership Registration applicants under the age of 18 must arrange to have a parent or legal guardian available during the on-line training.
Note: Safety training courses other than the Centers SafeSport Training does not satisfy this requirement.
